The exciting extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a aggregate 51M spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this is the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series recorded 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.
